Greetings from Southeast Texas

If book writing to be published is a stage, I feel desperately unrehearsed. I've written a gift size book and now am finding I do the writing...they do the rest just isn't so. They want one to have a blog, convince them you can contribute to advertise it, find an atrist to illustrate it, and Lord only knows what else.
I'm not sure I'm up to all this.

Never the less I've written poetry for eons it seems, have taken a class and read scads of how to write poetry and where to sell it or enter contests. I've had several published in anthologies but my prizes so far have been certificates. But that's okay because I just write when I want to say something about something. I've written a book of Hauki I'd love to have published and get paid something for it. Funny thing the main Hauki place in Writer's Market wants you to get it published somewhere else , then they will consider it. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this news after spending months writing and editing my Hauki book.

The craft of writing is fascinating to me and one of my favorite books is one titled The Bestseller by Olivia Goldsmith. It is fiction but has lots of inside information about how the publishing world works. I don't know how true it all is but was fascinating reading.

I started a comedy book about the escapades of a high school teacher that I may put in film form someday after I learn how. I enjoy writing but the research everything seems to require is not my cup of tea.

Maybe I don't take my writing seriously enough as I stay busy with keeping house, gardening, crafts, clubs, searching for a carpenter to build my cats an outdoor playroom,
searching for a house cleaner to free up more time to write, but I must get on a workable schedule.
