Thanks, Starry, for taking the time to find and read this essay. It took me several weeks before I made that call. I really thought it would devastate me to tell my daughter to stay away from me, but I actually felt relief! I hadn't realized just how much stress she caused me.

I know that sooner or later we will have to address the problem. It might have to wait until my 33 year old daughter matures a bit. Perhaps she realize WHY she was asked to stay away, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'll keep you and your aunt in my thoughts, Starry. My 97 year old step-grandmother passed away from heart failure, a couple of years ago, the day we left for vacation. My mother was with her, crocheting. She said Emma was there when she looked down at her crocheting, when Mom looked back up Emma was gone.

I didn't have long to get to know her, long story, but Emma loved to hear my writing. I miss her still and remember her with fond thoughts. It will be a sad time, but we'll be here for you.

hugs,
Gail
