Yum - What kinda casserole? Me HONGRY

j/kidding.
At anyrate - I thank you for posting this piece GAIL cause I've been saying such similar stuff since the inception of the farce "N-word" LOL - Most would simply roll their eyes or click their tongues or simply walk away when I'd get to talking about how much of a hypocrisy the entire concept of the "N-word" IS -- And I'm BLACK! It reminds me of how "Grown-ups" will not say "shit" and "fuck" in front of kids when their cursing or having a general conversation, etc... but instead will actually spell the words out in a whisper or some such: "F-U-C-K" and "S-H-I-T" = Totally absurd

--- At anyrate - just wanted to post briefly to say it's wonderful that someone else has a shared opinion on the matter... PCworld (politically correct) has done a great disservice IMO ((will have more on that later perhaps...))
Interesting thing - I was studying up on laser hair removal earlier and the reading was most intriguing. I'm actually looking into purchasing a laser hair removal system... So... I'm reading and I come to a point in the literature where the topic is all about melanin:
Melanin exists in the plant, animal and protista kingdoms, where, among other functions, it serves as a dark pigment. This pigment is visible in human hair and is the primary determinant of human skin color. --
from EpilaLaserHairRemover.com - Questions & Answers --- And I found this most interesting... Of course I'd heard of melanin before in studies and school and such... But I thought it was most interesting because of my recent blog post and your essay. Isn't incredible to think such a simple thing as melanin is what determines ones race.
It's the luck of the draw then eh? Of course I had no decision ((not that I know of anyway)) in determining what the color of my skin would be this go around LOL --- I'm rambling

--- Um... Yeah... Hmmmm....
Anyway - I

the word "Nigger" and what should I find but an interesting
Wikipedia article LOL:
Quote:
c/o Wikipedia:
The shock effect of the word can also be used to deliberately cause offense. Several historians and activists, such as Dick Gregory, have said the use of "N-word" instead of nigger robs younger generations of the full history of black people in America.

I think this is interesting and mostly agree, yet I cannot help but to look stymied because I've never really ever referred the word "Nigger" in any historical context LOL - But it is an interesting point to be made. My contention though is......... Why can't People simply be People? We have a fascination of sorts with labels don't we? Always have... I shall ponder...
Anyway - thanx again for posting - I told ya: Always an interesting conversation... I think definitely the word Nigger has earned it's right to be capitalized now

--- A show of respect no doubt.
