Somebody sent to my e-mail this morning a message on joining this writers' forum. How the
hell did they reach my e-mail - I do not know; but I'm not complaining. Just as a small intro to who I am (take this under poetic licence and having been written months ago), here's a sonnet - you'll get to see a lot of them by me - I wrote about myself - with a perfect Petrarchan acrostic!
Sonnet XV: Onself
Judgemental, harsh and hypercritical
Of what sounds far and certainly unclear;
Not knowing but the ones who’re known as queer
And most eccentric; hypocritical.
The one whose life’s most non-political –
He has opinions, thinks himself a seer;
All books may read, yet might not lend an ear;
Nor have tact, though he’s analytical.
How can this one be saved from being all lost
Or doomed in life to have no sure success
When he is both in sunshine and in frost,
And be in constant fight to stop regress?
Rough, wrong polymathy shall lead to doom,
Doomed failure, no success; he’ll never bloom.
This one was reviewed by the sonnets board off sonnets.org, so I count this as "acceptable" in my limited collection.
I'm a 16 y.o. Autralian-descending poet, high-school student, physically and socially deprived lover, aspiring cantor, (hopefully future) singer, who's living and being weaned in Israel, with a highly-flavoured metrical taste to my poetry. Though I am working on small, unmetrical proverbs (that tend to resemble or form into haikus) - maybe I'll evolve from there. Insofar, I am by far a sonnetee, though I've written limericks, Spenserian stanzas, villanelles and a sestina.
