Contest Entry Letter

So, today I got in the mail this nice little letter from the Poetry Contest that I sent two of my poems in and which said that they received my entries and that by August 31st I should know how I do on their website. I'm really excited and I'm going to save the letter I got and I think it's really neat that they sent me a letter to say that I was entered and it was very nice and personalized too.
I don't know quite if my two poems I entered will "show the ability to dream" but they're pretty creative and two of my favorites that I've done. I'm hopeful but even if I don't place in it and I'm just proud of myself for taking the step to enter my work in a contest and now I want to find more that I can enter in.
There's another thing that isn't exactly a contest but it's this book of poetry that is published by a college that I know. So, I think that I'm going to send in my stuff for that because it's free and the submission time is now, the month of August, and the deadline is either a month or two from now. I've also read their one poetry book in my free time and I like the style of the poems that I've read. They're pretty much all free style and it seems to be right up my ally.
Anywho, that's what happened today and lots of writing with my Novel and chapters. I've noticed something though... when I'm writing chapters for a Novel I can't seem to write as many (or any really) poetry. It's either I write poetry, or I write chapters, but it's extremely hard for me to do both. When I'm working with my Novel and writing out chapters I constantly think about the storyline and where I'll be going with it next. I get inspired to write down dialogue and scenes.
When I'm inspired to write poems my mind is just taking in anything as a trigger to write a poem and I write down a whole stanza or beginning lines of a poem. Well, that's what has been going on and I hope to write some more too tonight!
