Amaranthus caudatus

Clouds of darkness veil my eyes.
From plastic roses and tears of sky
As the paper flowers begin to fall
Senses peak, by pain enthralled.
I feel the flowers that beg to burn
Twist in pain, when they get their turn
As roses of red burst into flame
The amaranth will still remain.
As ashes of life dance in the wind
And paper wings consumed, descend
In a show of light, what once was new,
Is reduced to dust, and now is through.
Watching all around me waste away
From those I love, I will not stray
Through eternal life, defined by pain
The amaranth will still remain.
