AMNESIA

~~~~~~~~
AMNESIA
Can you write a better future
with pages ripped out of your past?
Can you find your books of pre-birth,
Or does amnesia ever last?
Can you remember the dark ages,
forged in stone so long ago,
commanding screams that you forget,
Or will amnesia ever flow?
Can you learn of lives-past mistakes
when your tomes do not arrive?
Can you narrate your old story,
Or will amnesia ever thrive?
Can you restore your old hard drive,
When the chips are down and fried?
Can you write a better program,
and throw amnesia to the side?
Would you write a better future
Where truth and love would last?
Would you toss hypnotic stories,
and leave amnesia in the past?
George
A very good idea and creative look
at Amnesia. This is also very well written
with the rhyme and meter skills you so lyrically
portrayed. Awesome write George, much enjoyed!
Thanks Karen,
This poem started out about past lives and the Amnesia we have on them.
Just imagine if we could learn from “all” our past mistakes. We would probably be a bit more wise and possibly even make decisions in life that would be better.
Sometimes I get glimpses of such things as past lives. I just wish I could fill in more of the blanks myself. That is really what the poem is about.
I guess even if one doesn’t think “past existences” are real or has forgotten about them, it still seems that we a sort of amnesia about creation or evolution or whatever the truth may be. I guess the poem is about this amnesia too.
In this life time it appears like sometimes we forget lessons we have learned and have to learn them over and over again, kind of continue to make the same mistakes, I guess this poem could be about this kind of amnesia too.
It seems to me all of us are somewhere on the amnesia scale, some suffering from it more than others (some of us making the same mistakes over and over again, more than others do).
Some of us likely will even try to find the keys to this Pandora’s box while others are happy to sleep it off and then wake up as a baby being born and start the game all over again stuck in AMNESIA on what it is all about.
If what I have written here makes no sense to you then you probably forgot what was written and should “forget about it.” LOL.
Thanks again for the comments,
Lv,
RR
I can relate to this. My concept of that kind of amnesia is an invisible fog which descends when things are just too hard for the mind to handle and we go into an automatic mode. When we're ready for it, the fog lifts and we can look back and see what happened with a clear eye, then we can decide where to go from there. My poem, Surrounding Mists, describes my theory.
Can we go back and remember? Is it amnesia or just an effort to forget? Hmm. I honestly believe the world could benefit from remembering the past, but it somehow get buried in lies and deceit and even worse, obscurity.
hugs,
Gail
