Sartor,

You are so right the Cinquain is such a poetical delight. Just thoughtfully placed syllables about a subject matter. You do have that effortless image. Great job!

Jerry

P.S. I've complicated the form somewhat with my poem titled Wanted Again. Cn you find the sixth cinquain?

Is this poetry? I wonder how talent has become so, then again I don't. Its all bull shit that people think is good but give me one reason why you think its good. Quote and tell me. I would like to know. Tell me why he gets replies and I don't............well never mind, I know that you have to be a "click" on all sites so I don't try too hard.

Tamare........I am not sure who you are directing your reply to.....but if it is I, then I am not sure if I understand your request. Poetry comes in many forms and what is beautiful to one may seem like childish scribbling to another. For instance I am very fond of metered rhyme, but can find very little beauty in free verse. Like art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each finds pleasure in different places. Do I think all the Cinquains in this thread are great? No, but I do think some bring a visual image to my mind that pleases me, therefore I applaud the poet for his/her talent that brings me pleasure. Having said all that, it follows that poetry is not all "cow manure" as you stated.

I note that you say one gets replies and you do not. First of all, I do not know your work well enough to judge any of it, but I believe you are new to the forum. Have you tried posting on the critique page? The purpose of posting there is so other poets will read your work and tell you if it is good, bad, or mediocre. They will also try to help you improve your style. Be prepared for some sharp criticism. Replies in the forum, usually are posted if the poets and readers like or hate your work.

Hope this helps clear up some of your thoughts on the forum.

Sartor

Tamare.......Personally, in my mind I find no comparison between mathematics and poetry beyond the points that certain poetic forms require a strict adherence to foot and/or syllable count per line, number of lines per verse and/or poem and lastly a defined rhyme scheme.

Of course, knowing there are so many types of poetry, both recognized as authentic and those simply made up in the mind of the poet, I did take the time to check out phi vs poetry and if you are interested, you may find some information here:

Phi and Poetry

Therefore, when you ask, Could this be similar to the 'Golden Ratio' Phi? 6.18? I would have to answer, yes, it is similar.
