Clouds

I see myself much like the morning sky.
The sun is blocked out,as the cloud passes by.
It tries to shine through much like an escape from the night.
The clouds just surround, threatens to put out the light.
I’m finding it a bit harder to fight today.
The clouds make it seem it doesn’t matter anyway.
Because the light is blocked it starts to get cold.
My heart feels tired,I feel old.
As more clouds appear,I wonder will the sun ever come out?
The shadows and shades are much like my doubt.
It seems to get harder to understand what life is about.
It seems these four walls, determine my route………
I pull myself up,think that things will get better?
But the skies get darker,as the rain gets wetter.
Maybe soon the sun will come back?
Then I might see,just where I’m at?
But for now my life seems to drift like the clouds.
Stopping occasionally when the sun will allow.
I hope that my heart can weather the storm.
As the sun finds a hole and it starts to get warm………

This sounds like a very sad moment in life to me, very dark as the clouds get in the way, but yet I sense a bit of hope at the end of it as you wait for the sunshine to appear and bring you warmth. Sad, but many have felt this way I'm sure.

Mark, I'm glad that seasons pass and time goes by, even though sometimes it seems slow. The one constant thing is that it will pass...whatever it is. This reminds me of poems I used to write 3 years ago. Even though I would try to write something cheerful, it would come out dark. I cannot even consciously remember being unhappy. Weird.

In regard to the actual weather...I cannot wait for the cloudy skies and rain and cold to go away. I'm not used to it and it is so depressing to go home in the dark and wet and having to lock up in your house. Thank goodness for the last 3 days we have had the SUN!

Hi Nomadicrymer, hope all is well.I was just thinking, that poem is about three years old.Although my writing changes, some constants remain the same.I'm leary about giving out new stuff.I've been doing anthologies with poetry.com and noble house,I've made a little money but I feel like I'm just giving the stuff away.I want to make my mark on the world yet I really want a publishing contractRecently I've had ten other poems accepted for publication,I just don't feel like I'm being productive enough. You get out of life what you put in!It's kind of like that Beatles verse,"Then in the end,the love you take will equal the love you make".I have a site at Poetry.com under Mark Steven Russell, there's a little better representation of my writing there if you're interested?I appreciate the opportunity to post on this site,it really is pretty cool!Have great day I'll try to post some new stuff next time,I'm a little pressed for time.I'm a writer yet I hate typing..............Mark
