It’s time to tell a tale of old
when knights rode forth on horses bold
upon the Roman Pope’s command
to seize for Him the Holy Land.

In God’s good name they went amok;
Jerusalem and Antioch
ran red with blood of wife and child
struck down by Christian knights gone wild.

They knew their killing in the East
was shriven by the Prince of Peace
for Urban said, “Take back my land,
with Muslim blood make red the sand.”

Both sides knew they were in the right.
God’s heros were slain in the fight;
in all their battles rang the call,
“For God is one”, not One for all!

Tis' a pity the terrible things that are done in the name of 'faith'...many good things are indeed done through one's faith, but the tragedy of errant faith backed by a dollar is always among us...great poem.
