And the middle came and went
In a wink of star shine,
Bearing on it’s broad back
A treasure chest of stories and
The laughter, love and tears
Of a well lived youth

Who could ever have imagined
On the most fertile of days
That the second half
Would announce its arrival
On gentle warm winds
Perfumed with wonder

But there you were
Your shining green eyes
Filled with electric light
Born of your own first half
And the laughter, love and tears
Of your well lived youth

And so we grow together
Gifted beyond all expectation,
As the middle came and went
And colorful, new blooms
That flower in autumn
Write the stories of tomorrow
