Frozen Butterfly

trapped before me with wings of gold, purple and tangerine

they flutter not but my heart pretenses such actions

like a ballerina in a box I imagine the symphony as the insect plays

but this winged creature of whimsy is out of luck,

at least in there he'll never age.

Dear Erik,

I found this poem to be very intriguing with beautiful language. I love the tangerine and the second line I quoted here is simply exquisite. I found the last line to be interesting in the fact that you use "he'll"....which made my thoughts spin in other directions. I thought hmmmm...Is the butterfly a "male" butterfly or is the butterfly a symbol or metaphor? I could be way of track...nonetheless....the poem is quite mystifying to me.

What was your inspiration for this if I may ask?

Thank you for posting Erik.

Kim

Erik,

Much imagery here to seduce the mind and emotions. Great use of the American language!

Oooh! Wonderful poem, but now you've made me guilty. A butterfly flew into my hand while I was biking today and I killed it!. Anyway, lovely use of words and imagination here thanks for sharing.

Caged

this caged heart beats
like a fragile butterflies wings
against the invisible cage
fighting for freedom
to feel.

You are the freedom
of this butterflies emotions.
