Furry Friends (acrostic verse)

Furry Friends (acrostic verse)

Acrostic - when the first letter of each line is read downward, from top to bottom, it will spell out a word or phrase that is relevant to the verse. Most times it will spell out the title, but not necessarily so. A line of verse can be one word or many, rhyming or not. For example:

Furry Friends 1:

Precious
Entertaining
Theraputic
Sweethearts

Furry Friends 2:

C
ommonly found napping,
At times, hard at play.
Talkative when they want to be,
Seldom do they obey!

An acrostic that is read upwards, from the bottom to the top, is called a citsorca, which is just acrostic spelled
backwards. For example:

Furry Friends 3:

S
haggy long-haired beasts,
Gangly and undignified.
Overjoyed, they run to me,
Devotion personified.

I find acrostics a fun form of poetry to write and often
use it to break my writer's block! Hope you enjoyed it!

I like this because there isn't much recognition for animals...but they do mean a lot to us....I honestly am speechless after reading this because its short as some acrostic or citsocra poems are but it has so much depth and meaning to it, I think this might go in the Creative Traditional thread though....;thank you

Hi TREE - As an animal lover I am really loving these short acrostic pieces and salute you for sharing them! I am the proud parent of a 11y/o Chow mix named Holly and a 1 y/o Sugar Glider named Fancy - I am also stepparent to 2 other canines: Boston - pitbull, Daisy - Chihuahua AND a cat named Prince.

So anyway - my love for animals is really abundant actually, they are each best friends AND I can see that your love for animals is abundant as well. Each of the pieces testify to that fact!

Anyway - Thanx for sharing your poetries
I really enjoyed

Jacquii.

Dear Tree,
We used to do these poems back in the day, and I did only a few as an adult. Thank you for bringing these back!! They are fun, can go many directions with these, they do help with writer's block, and can be quite beautiful, like a haiku. Also, it was refreshing to see a tribute an underrepresented
group----> Our Furry Friends!!!! Thanks again, oh, and these that you scribed are awesome!!!!!

Kim

Dear Altree,

I agree, acrostics are great fun. I have written quite a number for births, weddings, etc.

Love
Alan
