good morning

good morning.

the lake takes a deep breath
as the morning fog lifts
and fades away.

birds rise to sing the world a tune,
calling upon the sun to emerge from behind the distant oak trees.

a light breeze cools and soothes.
calming.
helping the beads of dew on the freshly cut grass
dance in the early light.

a delicate splash.

the water shimmers and ripples
ever so slightly,
mocking the bold fluffy clouds
suspended far above.

glad to have awoken.
good morning.

Nice work Seajay, For some reason this put me on the ocean actually looking back to shore hearing and watching all the wonder that early morning has to offer. It's probably because I think the absolute power of life on land is only appreciated truly when on the outside looking in.

Good morning to you also

This is lovely, seajay! Reminds me what I'm supposed to be doing with this summer. I love waking up at the lake...or anyplace else in nature!

Biography: I graduated from California Polytechnic College in Pomona, California in my past life. My first job was at a newspaper in the Display Advertising Department. I married, raised kids, horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats for a seriously long time then escaped California to Georgia where I began real estate and stayed out in the woods entirely too long.

Yikes! This is wonderful. It's got everything a lovely poem is supposed to have.
Interestingly you've use the repetition of sound not as end rhyme and it's so effective (lake, take, fade, etc.) that it puts a lot of end rhyme to shame.
Excellent job.
