Light in the Darkness
Looking up through the darkness,
the sun shines in clear skies.
Reaching for its healing light,
I slide back to the bottom.

Sitting here in the darkness,
tears and sadness prevail.
Crying here at the bottom,
its echoes thought unheeded.

Living in the darkness,
the light beckons me.
Climbing rung after rung,
reaching out for help.

Cries in the darkness heeded,
friends waited with understanding.
To make my way out of darkness,
I had to climb out myself.

Hey BUTCHIESMOM - This poem really reads well - the repetition "...darkness..." works just beautifully... It's such a dark poem, but in such times I like to think that there indeed is a light at the end... (((I know! Dreadful cliche)))

At anyrate - you approach the subject matter with originality - Your poem speaks of strength AND I like that.
