bright lights barge into my eyes
and trespass the circuits of my brain
a cacophony of steady rhythm
besieges me, hip hop and disco
I eat ice cream,
nachos,
popcorn,
drink soda and beer
my first NBA game is not
about basketball

Biography: I graduated from California Polytechnic College in Pomona, California in my past life. My first job was at a newspaper in the Display Advertising Department. I married, raised kids, horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats for a seriously long time then escaped California to Georgia where I began real estate and stayed out in the woods entirely too long.

There you go. I've often thought there was so much more involved with sports events than just the game. Some of it raucous, some of it comraderie, some of it base, some of it illogically patriotic. It seems you can get kids to watch anything including sports events, rodeos, horse shows, as long as they can eat all the junk food. They actually don't really watch, but just practice hanging out in a crowd.
This is a good depiction of what else is happening at a game. You've told it without messing it up with unnecessary words too.

Sweet! I didn't know what I was in for when I read the title - But this one has pleasantly surprised me - The imagery is wonderful and even has a bit of tongue-in-cheekiness that makes me smile a bit - Especially the icecream ... beer line. But then to read the very last line was like WOW! Quite a lovely write MS LIT - Simple, succinct and extremely novel idea.

mislit...I love that you wrote about something so commonplace and made it into a bit of a mystery until the end... I have to say I do the same thing with major league baseball...eat, eat, eat pizza, sandwiches, chocolate cake, beer, soda...popcorn, peanuts....ooohh I better stop...that is the ONLY reason I go to the ballgame...to eat! ha! well, sometimes the company is good too. I've never been to an NBA game though. Thanks for the write!
