"The Old Wishing Well"
"The Old Wishing Well"
Oh my the stories it could tell
from this old, old wishing well.
If given voice for it to share
would speak of tales from dreamers' lair.
Wishes wanting, wishes granted,
magick grows when seeds are planted.
Each coin's a dream from someones heart,
to toss them in is just the start.
"I wish for love," said Maggie Sue,
"this dime will surely make it true."
"I wish for health," cried little Claire,
and tossed her penny from her chair.
"Grandpa needs a coat," wished Tim,
and threw a brand new quarter in.
But Billy dreamed of being tall,
and slid his nickel down the wall.
It matters not what coin is thrown,
the bearer's hopes and dreams their own.
Magick works when words are spoken,
the coin is just an object token.
Forty years and still it stands,
and touched by many, many hands.
If words could come within this well,
oh my! the stories it could tell.
Blessings
Sally
