Ropin' and Ridin'
After I read Ron's poem "Cowboy Dream" I was inspired to post one about cowboys as well. Thanks Ron!
Ropin' and Ridin'
Ridin' the broncs
and ropin' the cattle,
I was born
to ride in the saddle.
I ain't never been married;
I don't wanna wife.
Rodeo ridin'
has been my whole life.
I have traveled
the rodeos wide,
searchin'
for broncos
that I wanna ride.
Ropin' and ridin'
and throwin' the steers,
bronco bustin'
I've done it for years.
Every rodeo
is always the same,
winnin' and losin'
is part of the game.
Doin' my best
as well as I can,
gettin' thrown off
and hittin' the sand.
Eight seconds to go
and my bottom is numb;
I'm intelligent to many
and crazy by some.
Behind the closed gate,
until I nod pull,
and that is the truth
'cause I'll give you no bull.
Blessings
Sally
