Sink Like A Stone

Sink Like A Stone

Stuck in a world, where the war's never ending.
Corpses return, from the boys we've been sending.
The enemy's become,the one's we've befriended.
Nothing's quite like,what was intended.
Maybe we should, pack up and go home?
Instead,it seems,we sink like a stone...........
Tell me the difference between right and wrong.
Seems I once knew it,but now it is gone.
Things we had hoped for, become what we long.
Now it just seems, that everything's wrong.
Sometimes I feel,so,all alone.
These are the times when I sink like a stone.......
You tell me the end,is just the beginning.
We seem to be losing, yet, you say we are winning.
Meanwhile time stops, but the world keeps on spinning.
Perhaps we should pack it in,just go home?
But,instead,we seem to sink like a stone.........
Stuck in the past, with the future at hand.
Lost in time,in some foreign land.
Where there's more value in death, then there is in living,
The battlefield felt, like it would be more forgiving.
Meanwhile,we count up,all of the bones.
Only once more,to sink like a stone...........

g'day mruss1...
You have written mankinds history in this poem of yours...what drives man to war is beyond me as well at times...but I dare say greed is the answer.

Well spoken

Lindsay

I disagree with war too.
This was well written and well said.
A really good poem with excellent word choices.
I like it!
