The Spider And The Mantis
The Spider and the Mantis
A nasty, naughty spider,
built a web of fresh spun silk,
Born in his mind, refined, designed,
to carry out his ilk.
He waited, watched, in cautious mode,
so still throughout the day,
hoping lunch would come along,
a victim and its prey.
Alas, some motion in the web,
His prayers answered, so soon,
a mantis caught, on sticky silk,
it isn't even noon.
The spider charged with lightening speed,
to where his meal was caught,
deciding how to wrap it up,
as Mother Nature taught.
The Spider opened up its ports,
of sticky, gooey, thread,
designed to wrap, contain and keep,
a victim till it's dead.
Seems nothing that the spider did,
could keep the mantis down,
The spider and the mantis fought,
what seemed an enless round.
the spider fought, with waning strength,
in death's throes, still he tried,
but he was not a manits' match,
Eventually, he died.
The moral of the story is,
if you want to be a winner,
know your foe, from head to toe,
lest you become, his dinner.
