I gotta say, Adam, like MsJ, I picked up on the last stanza though I loved the images and thoughts from the first two.

I come from a different place for that stanza. I had a severe breakdown and one of the symptoms was voices. When they silenced the bad voices speaking to me, they also silenced my inner voice. So when I read: ...And silences that one low voice which truly does belong., it brought me back to the darkest time m mind has ever gone through.

Silencing that one low voice...now it's the loudest one I have...shhh...don't tell anyone...lol. My writing voice is the one voice I missed so much and am so glad I can express what my mind and my heart gives to me.

Thank you for posting this awesome poem. I loved the flow and the words.

hugs,
Gail

MS GAIL - I don't know if you know - but I too had a severe nervous breakdown... Symptoms eerily similar to what you posted - I think that's why we perhaps related to this poem on the same level, especially considering the last line of the poem. Interesting... Again- I say nice write ADAM and thanx for sharing.

Jacquii.

ps - Just curious - the name "Lycan" --- What is the significance?
How did you come up with that name as your JPiC Membername?

It came from the movie Underworld. A shortened version of Lycanthropy, which is the ability for a man to change into an animal namely a wolf. i.e. werewolf.
No real significance, I just like horror movies is all.

Ah! Okay - pretty kewl then - I actually Googled "Lycan" -- And it returned a few definitives, one of which regards some RPG game or some such - An animal turning into an interesting beast of sorts Lycans.. -- It was definitely an interesting read.

Anyway - perhaps you can update your avatar to reflect the interesting aspect of the Lycan

What a sweet idea!
As I have absolutely no coordination you can rest assured it wasn't anything to do with a computer game, although quite a few (on other sites) have landed on that conclusion.

Give me a moment while I find a suitable pic

Nice! I think the reasoning/motif is basically the same as Lycanthropy - the same as you stated - but it is definitely an interesting concept. Like the werewolf or even the phoenix ...
At anyrate - nice avatar = Good choice
