Strange Pet Names (catalogue or list verse)
this thread has 2 replies and has been viewed 2202 times
A poem made up from a list of things, people, places or abstract ideas that all have something in common. Any number of lines with any number of syllables. For a real challenge try making a poem out of your grocery list! I wasn't up for that, so here is my example:
Strange Pet Names
A lizard named Fluffy,
A mouse named Man,
A fish called Yappy,
A rabbit called Plan?
A gerbil named Killer,
A ferret called Spot
and two black dogs,
named Kettle and Pot!

WoW! A poem out of a grocery list? That sounds like good old fashioned challenging fun!!!! Will try it!!! Thanks! Also good,. as you have mentioned before to help with Writer's block. Can help with creativity, and I also see it as a forced way into either, increasing vocabulary, using words you didn't think of before, and also forcing one to rhyme.

I thought this was great, as a tribite to animals, which is refreshing to see.
Thank-you! Kind of makes you wonder what people are thinking when naming their pets (or children!), doesn't it?! I'm an avid animal lover, (I think there are many at this site), so many of my poems are dedicated to them. Hey - that might make a good poll question! Thanks again, my inspiring friend!
