Time To Bury The Hatchet (Guess Where)

Big bird farm, trapped in its concrete cage, the birds all have flown
emptiness framed by spark of wielding torches, many men have known
your graceful way of gliding through the worst of times and the best
so we restored you once again my dear, not yet time to rest
in midst of war, in the Gulf Of Tonkin. a mistake was made
conflagration soon ensued and brave men saved you, but it’s said
even braver men died in their attempt and now I’m afraid
men without souls, men who never walked your decks, men never shown
the beauty of your regal glory as sun sinks in the west
they aim to sink you now, please…to turn the guns for one last raid

The first Cinq Trois Deca La Rhyme to come in. Very nice Mike. This is a lovely tribute to the USS Forrestal. I read her story on the Internet. It's very sad indeed that she be sank after she fought so hard for her life.

Today was a day for excising demons. thank you for your comments and thank you very much for looking her up. I was hoping for a little of that. I was proud to serve aboard her, but I have a love/hate relationship with her. Like I say in the title though, it is time. I only spent 4 days at sea with her and I can tell you, she did glide through the water very gracefully. My gripe is really with the Navy and not the Forrestal. It's been hard for me to seperate the two over the years. I did nine months hard labor on her while she was in that concrete cage, but we put her back together again and now they want to put her at the bottom of the sea. So I'm gonna bury the hatchet. Let's see...where to put it? Thank you, Jolie.

Mike,

A sad story. And your experience with her tells the tale so well. Awesome!

Thanks for sharing this story with us. And don't forget to post this in the CinqTroisDeLa Rhyme section.
