What is the Coin?

What is the coin that shall be used
to pay the debt of those abused?
And what is the count of that coin
to pay for those we’ll not rejoin?

To he who lost his life in vain,
to she whose children now lay slain.
To brothers nevermore be seen,
to sisters defiled in their teens.

The clerics never truly sane,
to say “God’s Will” that they be slain,
and they have all gone very mad
to claim a truth they never had!

Dear Sid,

You weave a truth that we often don't realize in this canvas. The range of your work from what I have read thus far is fantabulous. The title alone stood out like the universe. Bravo Poet / Storyteller, Bravo. Thank you for sharing this.

Wow! Hey STORYTIME - this poem is a piece of deepness - Some people think of the more traditional poetry (rhyming poetry) as not capable of being anything but laughable little child game.

Within your rhymescheme - however - lies a brilliant piece of poetry that asks a poignant question. What will you pay for your ticket through the gates of heaven?

Anyway - that's how I read it - Very interesting...

Jacquii.

Storytime.........I enjoyed the rhymes in tetrameter. Your poem carries a message of truth and finality with it.
