The odour since childhood
its charm and ascent
I went to have her scent
I bent but did repent
as that was lent
I could not proceed extent
as I could be made
leave my house
and seek a tent.

Well there are some fine Poems here I am really awed by the response. Ms Nomad ...... I too love the scent of fresh made bread... You took me back there.... as did Karen with her honeysuckles. This is a sweet smelling bloom. It took me back to childhood as when I was small we used to take the blooms and suck the sweetness out of them. Excellent poems everyone

A Fragrance So Sweet and Clean

The scent that took me back to my childhood
Is a memory that has lasted for years,
I twist the cap and inhale the fragrance
Then quietly let go of my tears.

She used it on me as a child
It's scent was pure and clean,
I keep it on my bathroom shelf
That's how it's always been.

Each day mom's memories come to me
As I twist and turn the lid,
I feel her touch my childhood soul
I so wish I was still a kid.

My children and the grandkids alike
Have shared in this wonderous smell,
Oh how I love mom's baby powder
It's scent is one that will never fail.

Wonderful imagery Lindamay. I too love, LOVE baby powder. It always seems to represent the fresh and clean and new...Hope in a container, so to speak.

Thank you Nomad, appreciate the reply, plus it's so nice to know that I"m not the only one who thinks along these lines ... it is a fresh, clean scent, which is what most mothers smell like to us when we were little (and even when we're all grown up!)
