Icon7 Spark Your Creativity #22 {Rainbow Poem}

To celebrate one of the most beautiful atmospheric phenomena witnessed come rainy seasons is the R A I N B O W !!!

This is a simple exercise, that with careful creative thought, one can create a little masterpiece. You may want to play with the colors, mood, atmosphere, and emphasis, etc. before finalizing your execution. Now...how to structure your Rainbow Poems is explained below.

Instructions:

List the colors of the rainbow, in order, down the left side of a piece of paper / computer screen. {Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet}. Then, with each color, write an object (noun) of something that is that color. Then, using the progressive verb tense (the "ing" form), spend some time creatively describing what the noun is doing. A model poem is listed below. Each Rainbow Poem can stand alone, or they can be in a cycle, each relating to one another.

Last, but not least, one does not have to limit oneself to writing and posting just one Rainbow Poem! Get Creative! Think of food, books, nature, animals, people, your experiences, mystical lands, fantasy, outer space, and so so so much more...just to name a few...

Enjoy and I look forward to experiencing YOUR Poems!

Model
Rainbow Day

Red
sunrise
climbing up the darkness,
kissing the stars.

Orange
lilies
swaying on the stalk,
playing with the wind.

Yellow
butterfly
standing on a petal,
sipping daisy nectar.

Green

ivy
creeping up the brick wall,
looking for adventure.

Blue
waves
rolling toward the beach,
bringing a mermaid.

Indigo
parrot
perching on a leafy branch,
scolding everyone who passes.

Violet

petunias
blooming in a window box,
perfuming the siesta hour.

Rainbow Flu

Red
nose
sneezing way too loudly
honking almost proudly

Orange
juice
looking refreshingly cool
doing nothing for this fool

Yellow
pills
rolling down an old sore throat
bringing clouds on which to float

Green
bile
coming up from yellow pills
spattering on the window sills

Blue
streak
erupting from mouth
sanity gone south

Indigo
haze
filling a brain
racked with pain

Violet
thoughts
hovering, uncertain then dives
blessed sleep finally arrives.

Wow, Tree, I couldn't decide whether to keep reading or look away! I gotta try this myself but not guaranteeing it will be this week. I'm going through all three notebooks and adding scenes already written but without hard copies. I want to read each one from one end to the other and see if each could indeed stand alone or what I could do to make it do so, lol.

Your earlier suggestion to examine the backstory to my novel has it now turned into three sections.

First--The actual birth of the siikers from the rage of one man and how they were captured, then their release thousands of years later, how it devastates the civilization in a matter of days (or is it weeks?), and how people actually survive.

Second--The next generation copes with the new order of things and the star child is born (or is she?). Introduction of several important characters and continuation of some in the first one.

Third--Many threads continued from the first two sections converge. Many twists and turns and the siikers are finally gone with the cooperation of two vastly different races and species or are they?

One great thing I'm so happy about is that I've finally written the definitive first chapter. Unfortunately, there are several versions of it and I need to merge them to make it all that it could be.

I've missed your nagging MissTree (did I really say that?) and chatting with you.

hugs,
Gail

TY Gail!
I hope you do try this challenge - it was fun! BUT - (not to be nagging or anything like that) don't let it take you away from that (those?) novel! These challenges are great when you get stuck or muddled on your main work and need to step back from it for a bit.
I'm really glad to find you still here and still working on it! Can't wait to catch up with you in the chat box!
