Icon9 Fear (a poem)

Fear

I know your weeknesses.
I know your doubts.
I know when you're feeling down.
And your pessimistic thoughts.
I have crippled your thought process.
I have made you sulk,
I even broke you down,
Worrying about your securities.
I've kept misery within your grasp.
Knowing you're searching for true happiness.
I've kept you away from the unknown,
And all the inexperience.
I've even kept you away from love.
Knowing you won't know how to handle it.
Why deal with something you can't control.
When you can't step up to the challenges.
You've tried to get rid of me.
Yeah, I know you fought back.
But I've kept striking.
Once your defenses were down.
Eating your confidence and well being.
I know one day will find the courage.
To put me out of my misery,
But when you have those feelings.
Of nervousness, tightness, and hot flasjes,
I'll be there.
You know my name.

Hi Mystic,
I enjoyed the write. I often write poems on emotions, as you have done here. They are an excellent choice because there is so much drama connected with them. Although I always write in rhyme, I sometimes enjoy a free verse now and then. I wish you well.

Sartor

PS......I noticed in one line you left out a word. Perhaps an oversight.

I know one day will find the courage. Should be: I know one day you will find the courage.

Fear as it appears to many people...tangible and threatening...very interesting piece, as it flows in curves and eddies to a bleak end! Nice work, Mystic!!

If you care to make spelling changes...check your first line (weaknesses) and third to last line (flashes)...

fabiola,

The fear that a person
speeks to their self...

the blocks they through
in front of their own
self.

They live on for years,
their stiched into all
they do.

Yes fear of thy self,
is the greatest of
a prison.

Biography: Jacquii Cooke is a 32 year old Black Poet from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Webmistress of Poetry in Color Forum, she is devoted to the more abstract styles, especially those with a strong feminine voice that center around the topic of redemption and righting the wrongs of past transgressions.

hmmmm - Very nicely written - I thought perhaps the poem could be called Fear-Cowardice (a manifesto) ---- at anyrate - this is a unique piece as if the reader just started reading the poem without glancing at the title 1st - it's a bit difficult to understand - especially getting to the last line. But I read the title and thoroughly enjoyed. This is one of those piece that can be read many different ways.

The way I read it leads me to say "I shall never fear again."

What a wonderful message to pull from a poem.
Nicely scribed Poet - Thanx for the sharing

Jacquii.
