With all that said.......I am interested in what lovely "linear" Haibun our members can produce on our forum. My original post is a "guideline" so to speak, to craft a Haibun. The Western example of how it came about is just that---A Western Example.
I have studied Oriental Calligraphy extensively and their culture and am very well aware of the information in your post. Also very well aware that the "Pictures" were the "Characters". Please don't forget our members are cultured and highly intelligent, including myself. In no way, shape, or form am I taking away from or corrupting their phenomenal culture, and was not my intention. Truthfully, I can't even believe that I am explaining myself, and I do not have to but for the sake of response.
Also in my post I stated that "American and British poets are reinventing the form for a new time and place, here and now" and "The west is in an experimental phase with the haibun, expanding boundaries of what can be done with and within the form. Buried within experimentation comes the study of established practices." Lastly I state the examples are of a contemporary vision. Making it quite clear that what I posted were "new" thoughts about it and how it came about, while giving respect and acknowledgement to the original form.
For me personally, I welcome new improvisions of the form, as well as appreciate and respect the original form. Who knows what new creativity lies in our minds and I would love to see, as I stated above, what lovely posts of Haibun our members can share.
Nothing more, and nothing less.
Now with that said....I would prefer to get back to seeing posts of some lovely Haibun please.
Ahhhh, all this almost made me forget to feast my eyes on our first post by Checkmate!
Thank you Checkmate!!!!
