As dawn approched I watched the sun
glisten round the trees
One by one it's rays peeked through
the branches and the leaves
To kiss the ground in my front yard
then spread most everywhere
I saw it all but sorrowed still
because you weren't there

I didn't feel like eating
what else can I say
I didn't want to go to work
yet worked the longest day
When time to leave for home, my heart
only felt dispare
Opened my door and sorrowed still
because you weren't there

Tonight the moonlight's shining
brighter than I've seen
And music made for lovers
has caught me listening
Maybe one day I'll love again
but now I just don't care
Left on the light and sorrowed still
because you weren't there
