Broken Dreams
Broken Dreams
I wanted you to love me,
To hold me in your heart,
The words I wanted most to hear,
Were, “we will never part.”
I wanted you to kiss me,
Your arms around me tight,
To be with me, each hour, each day,
Until each day was night,
I wanted you to touch me,
As only you could do,
A thrill that I cannot explain,
That comes from only you.
I wanted us to be as one,
From this day, evermore,
But all my hopes and dreams were gone,
When you walked out the door.
I watched, I hoped, I prayed that you,
Would turn, to question, “why”?
Now you are gone, I am alone,
And I will surely die.
Each day I wait, with hungry heart,
With aching arms for you,
Each day, I die a little more,
My love, for you, still true.

Jerry,
Thanks once again for reading and responding...... Though I have been happily married for a great many years I do like to write poems of this nature. And, I write a lot of them. I love trying to get into the heart and mind of others and feel what they are feeling. When I was working, (retired now) I used to listen to individuals at work, especially the younger ones, and I would try to feel what they feel so I could put some rhyme with it. Again, Jerry, thank you for your time.

Dear Ron,
This is so heartfelt and I wonder how many have lived this very poem. It is sad and yet the end is so full of undying hope. Beautifully crafted and executed as usual from you. I could feel the longing and I actually said to myself that I hope his love returns. Awesome write Ron!

PaintedDiary,
Thank you for responding to Broken Dreams. I guess there are two ways of looking at a lost love like this. While you ache for the return of that love, later you may realize it was not meant to be. That one was a part of my past and there she remains. In the past. Again, thank you.
