Cast Not Your Love Upon Me

Cast Not Your Love Upon Me

Hardy fool,
Black heart that I am,
No,
I am not that,
I am only content with my life,
Why do you stand before me?
With tears stains in your eyes?
Asking me these questions,
To which I can tell you,
No lies,
Why?
Pray you,
Do you beg upon the ugly duckling?
When you can have the swan?
Cast not your love upon me,
This vain-less and unkempt woman,
My sister,
Whose skin is like cream,
and golden hair,
who laughs and smiles and enchants,
all who cares to know her,
She is the captains widow,
Lives,
But a few streets away,
Go beg upon her,
Not upon this dreary soul...
Whose heart is as icy as the watery grave,
The tides even,
as my beating heart,
You may sail upon the waters,
But you cannot have me,
For to have me,
I shall take you into that abyss,
That frozen death,
That all husbands and wives fall into,
No,
Cast not your love upon me,
For my love is... was a sailor,
Who lies,
at the bottom of the sea,
And God help me,
That is where,
I long to be....

WHOA WW - What fabulous piece you've shared with the Community. This piece is awesome in it's bitterness - This piece is AWESOME in the audacity of its truth. Yeah - I'm sure some recall that 1st significant love... I'm sure many still judge potential mates, holding them to the standart of that 1st.

This piece evokes awe WW. This piece is deep as the ocean depths is dark&black. This piece speaks of a loneliness that I hope never to encounter.

Very interesting write WW - Thanx for sharing it!

Jacquii.

Thank you

Thank you, I am glad to have shared a piece of my family, my Uncle Shortys sea stories, with you. He was a great man, who died a horrible death.

Dear WW,
This was a masterpiece, I felt all the emotions. This was so captivating, I did not want it to end!!

I shall take you into that abyss,
That frozen death,
That all husbands and wives fall into,
No,
Cast not your love upon me,
For my love is... was a sailor,
Who lies,
at the bottom of the sea,

Such beautiful, and poerful combinations of words. I would love to see this piece published!!

Much Luv;...Painted Diary

honest to god the title alone left me astonished and attracted me....I loved reading this it was full of metaphors that make impacts in your heart like a tragedy, there were no dull parts that made me want to read faster....I simply loved it; I truely believe some of the best poetry is made out of situations and emotions that cause you to write about a broken heart or confusion...thank you
