The Clock

11:07 it read,
Glowing a bright green...
Thinking she might sleep...
Not really sure she can anymore...

He's been away too long,
She's lost all track of time,
Just knowing there's a little bit of time left,
She doesn't want to sleep...

Crying herself to sleep almost
Every day and every night,
The tears fall down her face,
Dampening the pillow...
And the sheets beneath...

Writing is her out,
Knowing she must write to be heard
And understood...
Her pieces grow longer
As the time on the clock moves slower...

11:12, time went slow...
It's almost as if
Time slows because she watches that clock
For hours at a time.
Time will stop in its place
Until she falls into grace--
--Graceful sleep...

For her--
--All the time in the world,
Won't be enough for her to rest,
Until he returns to her...
That's when she'll sleep the best.

11:15-- she sets her head on the pillow
And falls asleep...

Soon...
She says to herself in her dreams.
