A Daughter's Loss

"I will always love you."
That is what you said.
You held me in your arms and smiled-
Tucked me in my bed.

You said "I'll keep you safe."
"I'll give you graceful joy."
I smiled and I listened,
Naively bought the ploy.

Now my heart is aching.
Now it bleeds my tears.
Yet I do not hear you coming,
I'm left to all my fears.

What worth is a person
Whose left by flesh and blood?
What point is there to staying
When worth less than mud?

So easily you left me
So easily I cry.
But still you do not listen,
Would you care if I should die?

It's true the thought is there
That in death it would not hurt.
And yet I still remain here,
Still bleed still cry - alert.

There's no light in my tunnel.
Just echoes of my tears.
And still you do not hasten
To smooth away my fears.

You do not come to care
Nor ask about my life.
Oh mother why'd you leave me?
Am I not worth your time?

Dear Sealiah,

At first I wanted to quote this, then realized I would quote the entire poem!!! This was not an easy read. Very real, very sad. The scribe here, made me misty as a tear beckoned to fall. This is excellent work as far as your craftswoman ship. As far as the little one, or adult in the poem, my heart screams out to that person. If the person is real or not, I would have the same feelings. As Writers, we want to draw our audience into the poem, to feel, and experience the poem. You did just that, and beyond dear Sealiah. There are some poems that stay in you head, and heart, and this is one of them. I can only imagine how many can relate to this piece. Thank you for allowing us to share in this piece Sealiah. Take Care.
