Delicious Defiance
I look upon this sheet
Calligraphy sweeping; ‘I’ dotted sweet
The nectar of words that free-fall from liberal tongue’s
Stinging deliciously my weathered, worn ears.
The tale of love woven; a glittering delicacy
The sparkle in a doe’s eye; words swollen generously
Spirits rising, plumping clouds daintily
While humming-feet and heart unearthed-as she swooned.
The beauty with wide eyes, rosy cheeks so smitten
Expressing her conflicting emotions with blood written
A miniscule smile capturing red lips
As she reminisced moment with her lover.
It meant little that her love had tumbling curls as well
As breasts and corsets; no matter she still fell
Yet the world tended-in instances- to regress
While slipping black ink to smother her red emotional dress
Together pursuing virtuous indignation
A continuous struggle still consuming our nation.

This poem had a very interesting dynamic of a give and take between soft words and images such as this right here: ‘I’ dotted sweet
The nectar of words and harder/not-so-soft images and wording such as this here: Stinging deliciously my weathered, worn ears. I really liked this give and take of soft and harder, having the softness contrasted with the next line of "stinging weathered, worn ears." I also thought that the repetition of red was interesting as well with how it described her lips and the "red emotional dress."
I really loved the images you had going on with this poem, and as I've probably said before, with reading your poems you just seem to have this knack for having great imagery in your poems. I enjoyed reading this poem and like I said before I liked how you had that give and take between the softer images and the not-so-soft images of the ears and the other image. I thought that you had a strong beginning and finish to your poem too. Anywho, thank you for sharing and keep on writing away!

AE,
A plunging work. Full of mysterious but catchy phrases. My emotions were stirred up but I must admit you caught me off guard with a spectacular surprise ending. Great job.
