Unexpected Love
Unexpected love, carnal desire.
What did I do to turn your thoughts my way?
Why did the fates for our hearts conspire?
You gazed at me and saw me entire,
And found instead amidst hearts run astray
Unexpected Love, carnal desire.
A new love for us then did transpire
Molded into stars from unhappy clay
Why did the fates for our hearts conspire?
Purged hope of love from my heart entire
Though what found me out was that summer day
Unexpected Love, carnal desire.
You lit the match that set my soul on fire,
My autumn love did kindle into may,
Why did the fates for our hearts conspire?
The winter of my life calls me liar
I confess these things of you when I pray:
Unexpected Love, carnal desire.
Why did the fates for our hearts conspire?

Very, very nice Beth! ...I like the progression from new love in the summer, thru autumn, and onto the winter...and regret!

Would that there were not such a word...as...regret.. There's nothing so sad as a love that was not meant to be...or a love gone wrong...it sullies the name of "love"...ok, it's late and I shall start to wax poetic if I continue...LOL!

You're cute, nomad ... my life is far too dull to have anything this romantic to have happened to me ... I'm happily married and really have no regrets. I do, however, have a vivid imagination. Anyway, my husband thinks all my erotic and romantic poems are about him, so we're fine.

well this poem had an imagination yes,
and very good phrases into it,
I think your husband has to be in this he's the one you love all year round,
or think about loving all year round,
at least that what I thought I gathered,
when I write I tend to think it snot about anyone or anyting either,
but actually it has to be seeded in something or it wouldn't be jotted down.
