the years without
we all knew
what a hardship it was
growing up with you

but in my heart
I knew it best
I picked you
from all the rest

rules were harsh
and tears were shed
but lessons learned
stayed in my head

love was there
under the stress
it was quietly waiting
for times of duress

now you are gone
but I will always remember
the unconditional love
you always tendered

those days were tough
but not as hard
as living without you

unless someone has lost someone, its hard to imagine what this feels like. For those of us who were raised harshly in the name of love know these words to be Gospel truth. You cannot move forward carrying burdens that large, nor were we meant to. When He said cast all your cares on me, He meant ALL of them. It isnt very often you can read a poem , feel the anger and the hurt, shed a tear for the child you could never be, and find peace and grace in your capacity to forigive, not realzing how such a self less act heals you. well penned...honest straight and true.

Oh so true Mysty I lost someone a long time ago and it was harder without her I loved her with all my heart and love her even more today. whether dead or living when they leave and you have no way of findinf them that love is very painful

This was an anthem of truth, and I am sure many many many people can relate to this poem. It was amazing to be in the conversation with you when your inspiration hit, and the result is astounding. When I read I had in my head the conversation and after reading, the end result, I was filled with warmth, and was quite misty in the process. I was moved.
