A dear friend of mine wrote this, and I wanted to share with the Community.
A Violet of Africa
A violet of Africa,
a rose among thorns.
the sweetest wine I'll drink
from the mightiest ram's horn.
I find your scent to be pure
an ointment to always savor,
I love your innocence
and west African flavor.
You are ripe purple grapes
from an organic vineyard
that wine makers cherish
in their highest regards.
Your eyes are the reflection
of the sparkles of the stars,
your Nubian skin is as black
as the cotton tents of Kedar.
I am drunken by your beauty,
sensual as a kitten's purr
and it inspires me to honor you
with a bundle of fresh myrrh.
It is you my ebony love
i would not dare to haste
in finding ways to generate
a smile for your saccharine face.
When I look at you
I am reminded of fresh cinnamon,
in my vision you are the Queen
among common women.
You are like the sweet milk
that flows from a coconut,
the largest diamond
in the world with the finest cuts,
the nightingale I love to hear
singing to me in the night
fore there is something in your song
that brings me total delight.
In your honor I am pleased to pray
to the heavenly father above
for inspiring me to write
a hundred lyrics for your love.

Very nice...Kim...please tell your friend...this flows in fluid curves and currents like all melodious songs of Mother Africa invariably do...beautifully crafted. I can almost close my eyes and imagine myself there!

My dear Kim: OHHHHHHHH!!!! WOWWWWWWWW!!!...My friend, this Poem is completely Outstanding and so superb. Its beauty is overwhelmingly well-written, and the metaphors take the readers to dreamland. I just love it!! You see, "AFRICA", the beautiful, is a place that I shall definetely visit one day in the future, since I would like to help many needy children there, and see the marvelous wonders of God´s Creation in Africa, the beautiful. Tell your friend that, her/his poem is breathtaking from beginning to end. I read it several times, and I never got tired of reading it over and over again.
