Sometimes you never know
How the first will go
Sloppy and all over immediately
Knowing friends
But every once in a while
Sparks fly as in July
Just the anticipation
Sets your emotions on high
Eyes catching and knowing its time
First touch of moist lips
Seems as spectacular as a lunar eclipse
Chills run throughout
Even to the end of fingertips
Putting you over the edge
Like the water over Niagara Falls
Cascading in walls
Thinking glad I didn't miss

Here is my version of such a kiss ...

A Kiss


Just a
simple kiss
transforms
into tingles
that cascade
causing insides to morph
into quivering jelly
as it awakens
a primordial need
for two halves
to become whole.
A simple kiss
turns into more
than just a kiss.

Hello Marc!

This is a very cute poem, and I enjoyed your description of that first kiss. I feel like this is just a great description of even more than just having that one first kiss, but any kiss that you have with someone who you've never kissed before. I enjoyed how you had the fireworks, Niagra Falls, and other ways of describing the excitement of the first kiss. I've had those sloppy kisses that are all over place and done immediately. So, I could relate to the beginning of your poem and just overall thought that it was very sweet.

Oh, and Mysty, I really do like your poem that you posted as well! I like the design of it with the lines and how it's one stanza, and also the images you have going and especially this line right here is one of my fav.: causing insides to morph
into quivering jelly I can relate to this because that perfect kind of kiss really does just make your insides melt just like jelly. And, your the ending of your poem was great too: A simple kiss
turns into more
than just a kiss.- Well, I do agree with you only if that simple kiss is really good and it isn't the sloppy not-so-good first kiss which Marc was talking about. I've had some where that first kiss doesn't do more than that, but then the right one with making the insides like jelly is definitely just the beginning and that one, simple kiss becomes something much more.

Anywho, thank you both for sharing your poems! I enjoyed reading them and keep on writing away!
