When Your Gone

"When Your Gone"

The love they shared is gone

But the memory of love

Lives on

-

She counts the costs of what

She lost only to grieve for the

One she loves

-

So young and beautiful

What will she do

Embraced by his spirit

Her hearts no longer

Cold

-

Standing over his grave

She’s in deep thought

The bed they shared together

The nights he just held her

Not excepting anything in return

-

The times he delicately

Held her face

In the palms of his hands

-

The first night she wanted him to

Make love to her

He just kissed her forehead and said

Goodnight

-

This was the night she truly fell in love

With him

When they did make love

He was so gentle

-

The way he kissed her

The way he touched her

The way he embraced her

Just the way he made her

Feel like a woman

-

Why did he have to get up

And go to work

Taking for granted we would

See each other again

-

The love I have for him

The love I want from him

Is now just a broken chain

-

A tear runs down her cheek

The cool breeze brushes up

Against her cheek

She shivers

Trying to stay warm

-

She feels his embrace

Her heart feels his warmth

She smiles

And hears his voice

Everything will be alright

Beautiful Art...... Arthur you make me feel this.. Goosebumps. And You know ... I have often thought that what would I do if ... but I dare not contemplate....... I think I would go wild lol. No sense in teasing myself with those thoughts. Anyways... as always you have written a wonderfully inciteful piece. I love it.

Mysty, thank you for your generous comment. I have a very broad imagination and many times through my poems i will take realty and mix it with the what ifs coming up with stuff like this.

Lasher, Thank you my friend...Yes we do take our paths to work when we leave and we take for granted that we will return home...We never no.. And yes we will be exiting out of this world and into the arms of another. We never know when.

Thank You..Both Of You!

Dear Art,

You sent my mind on such a journey. Reading this makes one just stare at the screen afterward asking.... "What if....?" You have woven a modern day fairy tale here. A lifetime within those stanzas are real, full of emotion, real pain, and the after. I loved how you smoothly transitioned into the stanza when he was gone, that was brilliant. I felt the love, the chill and felt her pain. Just the perfect word combinations, just enough words, to deliver just enough emotion. Each stanza plays out like a movie and I could envision each stanza as a painting. This is memorable and executed flawlessly Art...just what I would expect from you.

PD ...just wow!
