Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

I miss our apple cider Sundays.
Headed west on country roads,
valley winds through green rolling pastures.
Cattle graze on reservation. Pass Casino.

Radio tuned to soft voices compliment view.
Open space, with scattered ranch homes.
A paint horse and foal graze
under blue sky with scattered clouds.

Old western town at foot hills,
antiques for sale, windsocks, and hand made crafts..
Spanish mission, country store,
soft drinks, apple cider, cross roads.

Fifteen miles up hill climb,
twisting road, steep drop, smell of pine, ears pop.
Almost there, a few more curves.
Children almost vomit.

A cool breeze carries sweet aroma of pine and apple pie.
Horse and carriage rides, art and souvenirs
red swivel seats, soda fountain, sarsaparilla,
a fonder memory in your absence.

Jolie

Thank You,

I really do enjoy these short drives to the mountains. Julian is about one hour away. It's an old mining town and gets a lot of tourists. There's one main street with lots of shops to go through.

They are famous for their apple pies. Here's a link:

Dear Joilie,

What a beautiful poem to wake up to. Yes quite beautiful is your memory. The images play like a picture show in my mind. Almost was there, and after reading will put on my listy to visit. Wonder write!

Jolie,

Oh the heart that holds the pen. This is so full of the antique feel and I just love your ending:

The Following Text Is Quoted:
A cool breeze carries sweet aroma of pine and apple pie.
Horse and carriage rides, art and souvenirs
red swivel seats, soda fountain, sarsaparilla,
a fonder memory in your absence.
it really brings back some memories.
