Christmas Snapshots

sugared plums and christmas wishes
tempting treats so very delicious

pretty ribboned boxes wrapped
envision all the gifts entrapped

colored lights twinkling row upon row
decorating the evergreen tree for show

lovely tunes that voices are humming
daydreams of guests that soon will be coming

snuggled in bed too excited to sleep
children still share delightful peeps

parents sit and share a loving glance
knowing there is still time for a little romance

this here is christmas, a time for rejoice
peoples gifting gives God his voice

taking seeds of strength from fights
to plant in those who do not have
the strength to believe in themselves.

hmmm - interesting sigh....

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Dear Mysty,

This is simply delightful and a pleasurable read. The title is most fitting as each two-line stanza was indeed a snapshot as well as a whole. This poem painted what Christmas is all about and I loved it. Thank you for posting this poem as it is uplifting as well. Beautiful.

Kim

A wistful sigh from me too, Mysty. Lovely thoughts, especially the final stanza.

G'day Mysty...
Crikey! You must have been hiding in our house.

A nice Xmas poem for me to reflect upon.

Thank You Terrence and Lindsay....... Well you never know do you Lindsay... lol

as a child I would walk by houses in the dusk... delivering newspapers and I would look at the warm inviting light coming from the windows and often think to myself...... how different would I be if .... if I lived there.
