On this earth
we call a sphere,
Within the northern
hemisphere,
multitudes of
colors bright
perform like prisms
in the night.

Rainbow bands
of painted streams
ever changing
so it seems.
In the darkest
space and ballast
oh, Aurora Borealis.

Beauty waits
in anxious zeal
for evening's fall,
and all is still.
Then earthly wonders,
splendor bright,
create a dawning
into the night.

Although I have never been up north in the state of Alaska, where the Northern lights perform their brilliantly colored light show, I've seen them on a special television documentary. To see them in person would be a wonderous treat though I'm sure.

Is there has been anyone here who has actually seen the Northern lights? I would sure like to know how you felt about your wonderful experience(s).

Dear Sally,

I am enchanted by your poems of nature and wonders of nature. The Northern Lights are a divine celestial spectacle to see. I have only seen a glimpse here in PA, and it was if someone put up shimmering magenta colored electric curtains in the sky. The event lasted about three minutes. That was a mystifying life-long memory. I have a friend who teaches in Alaska and she see them often. There are not enough beautiful words to describe your poem. I loved it tremendously! This one is for you!
