*My Dad died suddenly Thurday and my sis and I wrote this to be printed on his funeral cards...

Do Not Grieve That I Have Gone

Do not grieve that I have gone
Beyond the reaches of your smiles.
Take comfort in the dreams I've shared,
We're only parted for awhile.

Remember what I tried to teach,
Ideals that made this country strong.
Keep fighting hard for liberty,
March on to Freedom's battlesong.

My life's been full, I savored much;
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch -
Ah, yes...these things I too will miss.

But don't let sorrow steal your joy,
Live every day that we're apart.
Remember that I'm never gone,
I'll always be there in your heart.

Hi BEKI - what a wonderful tribute to your Dad.
I offer my condolensces for your loss.

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

I believe your Dad would be very proud of who you are. I am indeed sorry for your loss. I believe you shall see him again.

That is beautiful, Beki. Was he a military man perchance? Sorry for your loss, your words do him proud.

tHANKS EVERYONE FOR READING AND COMMENTING. YES, TERRENCE - HE WAS A WORLD WAR II VETERAN OF THE PACIFIC CAMPAIGN - WE BURIED HIM APPROPRIATELY ON PEARL HARBOR DAY. hE WAS FANATICAL IN HIS PASSIONATE PATRIOTISM AND I MUST CONFESS IN HIS LATER YEARS HE BECAME QUITE ANNOYING BUT YOU CANNOT DENY HE HAD PASSION. I THINK TH EPOEM SUITE DHIM VERY WELL AND MY FAMILY APPRECIATED THE MILITARY HONORS SHOWN HIM AT THE FUNERAL.
