Nice Fib, Jolie. I've not come across the form before but have since read that the first line has 0 syllables, i.e. represents Silence. Intentional or not, that fits in well with your theme.

Thanks Terence. These are kind of fun to write. I didn't actually consider the zero. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Hey JOLIE - I was aware of the fibonacci numbers - but had never heard of the poem format - might be an interesting one to put in the JPiC Poetry-Defined database

I really enjoyed your poem though - very "sleek" if such a word can describe poesy:

The Following Text Is Quoted:
to celebrate rain with song to light the edge of night.
That very last stanza is just so beautifully written - Fierce actually.
A lovely write= Thanx for sharing it with us

Jacquii.

Here's the directions,
I have it on my 360.

Fibonacci Poetry

The Fibonacci number sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13… etc.

The next number in the sequence is found by adding the previous two.

Ex:

1 + 0 = 1

1 + 1 = 2

2 + 1 = 3

3 + 2 = 5

5 + 3 = 8

8 + 5 = 13

Most of the Fibonacci poetry I’ve read on the internet is created at this level, but there is no restriction to the form. The next number in the sequence is 13 + 8 = 21. I’ve seen them reversed, mirrored, doubled and anything imaginable adhered to the basic mathematic structure. You can make it as complicated as you like. If you’re a mathematician, you can probably find some really cool combinations, but for us guys who like to keep it simple, this is all you need to know. This is a spiral pattern as illustrated here:

Beautiful Fibonacci Jolie and true to form.
I've done like 2 of these. They are fun!
Really enjoyed this, thanks!

Thank you moon child and BekiLynn,

This poem came about strangely almost scary. I woke up earier than usual that day around 6:00 am. I decided to start a fire because it was cold. When I went out to the wood pile, I heard all these birds squaking, hundreds of them. It was just getting light out. The tree across the street was nearly black with hundreds of birds. My duaghter said it's because those birds hang out in the ditch, but it was flooded from the rain. I went out again an hour later, and they were gone. I never saw them before or again.
I'm glad you like the poem.

Interesting format! It's beautiful how the simplicity of the image works with the structured syllable pattern. Your last line is especially lovely.
