Samhain isn't actually rooted in evil. It was a time to respect the dead, and to send them your regards. It was also the new year, a time to reflect on the lessons of the last year, and to focus on goals for the new.

The 'evil' that some speak of is more rooted in the fact that the veil would thin, and the spirits of the dead would walk the earth. Most monotheistic cultures find this evil, but truthfully, I dont' understand why.
Vos Vestros Servate, mehos mihi linquite mores. "You keep to your own ways, and leave me to mine." ~ Sealiah
Trust in your heart. Trust in your Soul, and even if you go wrong, you'll know you did your best.

Hi Sealiah, thank you for your response.

My poem is trying to point out exactly what you say. There ARE a lot of myths and bad press regarding that particular celebration, unfortuantely many of them originating from the Christian churches' attempts to discredit the Druids, witchcraft and their superstitions/practices. I'm not personally a pagan but I do find the whole culture fascinating.
