Many THANKS to Painted Diary for showing us all this form! To see the history and the requirements of the haibun, go to: http://jpicforum.info/discussion-poe...ibun-3927.html

Festival Times!

Here we are at the music festival and the campsite is all set up. Anticipation is in the air as we await the bluegrass bands.

hundreds of campers
one noisy generator
drowned out by laughter

Everyone is sticky from the thirty degree Celsius heat. The Madawaska River invites and many choose to accept.

refreshing water
bodies, tempers chilling out
smiles swim to shore

Soon the tunes are booming across the field. A musical breeze calls everyone toward the area of the stage.

campers flow stageward
entranced as Hamelin's children
bluegrass pied-piper

After the show, campfires blaze up, energies wind down and mosquitoes arrive in full force. They leave when they can't find any un-spiked blood to drink.

sing, laugh, slap, scratch, curse
having too much fun to leave
mosquitoes give up

Very Cool. What a great idea, to keep a haibun journal. I see several painting in this.

"After the show, campfires blaze up, energies wind down and mosquitoes arrive in full force. They leave when they can't find any un-spiked blood to drink."

Lol, this is fun.

to Lasher, Jolie and my Sister, PD!!!!

Thank-you for all the great comments!

PD: I really love this form - so you may see more of them whenever I get the chance to write!

Lasher: The festival was so awesome, I just HAD to write about it!

Jolie: Yeah, there was a lot of drinking going on but the really nice thing was that no one got obnoxious, disgusting or rude. They were all there for a good time and it sure was!

Wish Yawl could have been with me!

Tree!! You did it again...I learn so much from you...even though you learned about this one from PD...lol! This brought the whole experience to life and set us square in the middle of all the fun... mosquitos quibbling about un-spiked blood? haha!...the ones in Belize seem to increase when nighttime comes and everyone is drinking...I love the imagery in this write and thank you for sharing it with us...looking forward to more.

luv!

TY Nomad!!!!
Good point you bring up here! PD brought us this form BUT we have not yet seen her example of the Japanese Haibun! hmmm... Maybe if we both beg and whine, she'll give in! LOL! Glad you liked this - give it a try - it was really fun to write!

I love it TREE! Of course I have seen pics LOL - but it seems like a good sweaty time was had by all tehehehe

I do like your form haibun! It's succinct and very nice actually - my favorite has to be about the mosquitos, as growing up in TN we had more than enough of those pesky bastards LOL - Used to have carry a flyswatter just to lay down and sleep LOL - try waking up with a flyswatter smacking the bloodsuckers tehehehe

Anyway - a very nice form - makes for a brilliant piece of artistry!
Thanx for the sharing

Jacquii.

TY MsJ!
Mosquitoes are a good subject because they are one of the things that everybody loves to hate! They probably serve some ecological purpose but I think I could live quite happily without them!
I think my favorite line was "smiles swim to shore". After I wrote that, I thought of these great big yellow happy faces bouncing around on waves. LOL!
Thanks for checking out my stuff!
