Default Fifth of June Terence Started This Thread
The morning mist has swirled to cool, crisp day
as light breaks through the leafy canopy.
And while I slowly walk this tree-lined lane
my thoughts all turn to what this once had been.

Wild wood with nature so unbounded
where ancient oak stood firmly grounded,
tall sycamore with twittering seeds,
green-algaed ponds with beckoning reeds,
swift hare with fox in full pursuit,
midst bluebells, trillium, bitterroot.

But now man’s footprint’s stamped its mark
all that remains is sculpted park
with neat trimmed bush and concrete path.
So orderly … but with no heart.

Terence - this one is very vivid...great imagery...I could see what you were talking about perfectly...I agree on the advancing march of man stamping out the heart of nature...if we follow the sci-fi comics we will soon move to the skies! lol!

lovely poem...very heartfelt.

Thanks, Nomad, for your kind words on both of my poems. June 5th was World Environment Day so I thought it appropriate to focus on (the beauty of) Nature.
