Dear Thea ...... this is a Haiku .... a short form of Japanese Poetry about nature. It is a 3 line with a count of 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the 2nd line and 5 syllables on the 3rd line. Each line should be able to be a stand alone picture and each line together with each other a whole new picture. This is how a typical original Haiku is written.

But in todays world of poetry a Haiku is not necessarily the 5-7-5 combination anymore. But it still has to be a short three lined poem with each line being able to evoke a mental picture on it's own and another altogether.

Another similar form is the Senryu .... it's standard original is also a 5-7-5 syllable count. But with Senryu you are using emotion. I hope this explanation helps.

I do have to say Colin.... quite the Haiku you have written lol... Excellent effort.
