JESTER OF HEARTS ~ SONNET

With half a smile smirks the jester of hearts
aiming for broken hearts deceived in hell.
The clubs and spades and diamonds, not her arts
but playing the game of hearts suits her well.

She's clever in her costume aiming wand
at down, unlucky clown with eyes of brown
who in the name of love has just been conned.
What attracted her was his downcast frown.

Bedecked in hearts and tattered wings of red
the jester proudly holds her souvenir.
Heart of fool still beating grossly undead
on tip of magic wand beats bloody fear.

The jester queen of hearts and trickery
gloats on her heart throne in sheer victory.

Nightlife calls me.
Through her I am free.
It's the only way to be,
all caught up in a mystery!
Born with full moon fever,
I can make you a believer!
For I am the moonchild,
truly born to be wild!

Good sonnet, Moonchild. Close to IP, even WS wasn't perfect, but it flows well, has perfect rhyme and is appropriate to the season.

Delightful, Terence

Yes Terrance this is not one of my better Sonnets.
It is not quite IP like you said but close.
Anyway thanks for not picking on me too much(hugs)
Glad you liked!

yep i see that too ...not quite iambic pentameter
....sonnets are very difficult to write...I've tried and never quite got it

nevertheless as some-one i know once said...you can try to write a sonnet...fail...and end up with a magnificent poem any way....i did enjoy this...it was interesting

Glad ya liked
