Metamorphosis

What’s this feeling taking over me?
What’s this feeling in the depths of my body?
Something’s different, it’s not the same
I can hear him calling, calling my name
Who or what is this calling to me?

Why is it so dark, too dark to see?
I long to feel the wind blowing in my
hair
I long to dive in the ocean over there
I long to smell the flowers and climb the highest
tree

What is this feeling coming over me?
Things are changing, it’s not the same
I can hear him shouting, screaming my name

Where is the girl I use to be?
Where is that girl, where is she?
Why is it so dark, so dark inside?

Stop, Listen
I hear him
I open my eyes

My love, my precious angel
He calls to me
My goddess, my queen, my Caribbean beauty
I open my eyes
I step out of my cocoon
And I fly

I didn't like your other two poems, I'm just being honest, but I found this more on the right track,

it brought the reader along to see what there was too see

Well

Thank you for your expressed appreciation for at least one of my poems. That's one of my favorite things about art, there is lots of room for all types of styles and the artist is free the express himself genuinely. Those two poems you didn't like are among my favorites, because I took real experiences in my life and transformed them into beautiful works of art, that are reflections of me. Anyway thanks again.

hey Latisha and by not liking them I must insist a lack of understanding on my part,
its not my place to doubt or dislike any part of you, and certainly I don't,

and I've been battered by editors myself so what I like isn't the law,

so keep it on girl thats fabulous

At first I thought it was a religious calling... and then the final verse just made me realize something else... the beauty that is set free!
Like this poem. I'm sure most people can relate to this metamorphosis!
Cheers!

Glad you like it. Actually when I wrote this I had three things in mind, one, I was looking down at my tummy and thinking about this new person who is about to come into my life (my first born-I wrote it while I was pregnant), secondly how I was becoming a different person and I am in this cocoon shaping into the woman I am about to become(Actually I think I'm still in the cocoon) and thirdly, I felt God was calling me to become the women he intended me to be, so it is spiritual and somewhat religous but it is open to interpretation.

this is refreshing...you kind of threw poetic caution to the wind and it worked

This is indeed an awakening...VERY NICE! It surprised me because I almost expected it to take a dark twist near the middle...but for me it seemed to gravitate toward a lover who has brought out a "new" person from within you. Now that I see your explanation above I have a better understanding...this is a very special poem...5 star rating on this one!

Thank you. For your positive feedback, personally I believe when you put your work out there. It's audience should feel free to establish their own interpretation of your work. We all feel different kinds of connection to art. We might feel different emotions towards an painting to what the artist was feeling when he was painting it.
